I am an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Missouri, a Research Affiliate at Institute of Labor Economics (IZA), and the Associate Director at the Social Impact Lab at the University of Missouri. I am also an alum at the PEDAL Lab, Penn LDI - The Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics at the University of Pennsylvania. (upenn.edu), and USC RCMAR – USC Schaeffer.
I am an applied microeconomist who combines insights from economic models with empirical microeconometric analyses using quasi-experimental methods for causal inference. My research focuses on understanding how emerging technologies such as health information technologies, novel care models, and policy reforms impact the functioning of the health care markets. My research also extends to studying what implications of policies aiming to overcome the causes of market failures such as market power, imperfect information, and externalities can have. In my research, I use domestic and international administrative and commercial databases to answer questions that are policy-relevant in the United States and elsewhere.
I appreciate the support of my research by number of organizations, including the National Institute of Aging, the Academy of Finland, Emil Aaltonen Foundation, Kone Foundation, and Yrjö Jahnsson Foundation.
